Job Summary
Our client is seeking a dedicated Registrar to ensure that patients are appropriately registered for all service lines. The Registrar is responsible for eligibility verification, obtaining pre-certifications or authorizations, making financial arrangements, requesting and receiving payments for services, and performing cashiering functions. They maintain a close working relationship with clinical partners, ensuring ongoing communication between clinical, ancillary, and patient access departments, and provide exemplary customer service. The position may also involve providing PBX (switchboard) coverage and support as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Proactively seek assistance to improve responsibilities related to the role.
- Maintain open communication with clinical partners to enhance patient experience.
- Provide timely coverage of assigned work area and arrange relief coverage as needed.
- Meet productivity, attendance, and punctuality standards set by department leadership.
- If applicable, provide PBX (Switchboard) coverage and maintain knowledge of phone systems.
- Contact insurance companies to verify eligibility and obtain pre-authorizations within the required timeframe.
- Register patients for all services, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory policies.
- Create accurate estimates for patient financial responsibility and manage payment plans.
- Connect patients with financial counseling or Medicaid eligibility vendor as appropriate.
Qualifications
- Mature judgment in dealing with patients, physicians, and insurance representatives.
- Proficiency in Microsoft programs and familiarity with database programs.
- Ability to operate general office machines and handle multiple tasks efficiently.
- Effective professional communication skills, both verbally and written.
- Adaptability to the changing healthcare environment.
- Adherence to government guidelines such as CMS, EMTALA, and HIPPAA.
